Terms of use

These terms govern use of FindMyDentist by patients and by dental practices. By browsing the directory, creating an account or publishing a listing, you accept them.

Last updated: 1 January 2026

Who may use FindMyDentist

FindMyDentist is a free directory of dental practices in England. Anyone may browse it for their own purposes, and you do not need an account to search, compare practices or send an enquiry.

Practice accounts are for dental practices and for the people authorised to act for them, including practice managers and marketing staff. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you are entitled to manage the listing you claim.

You must use FindMyDentist lawfully. In particular you must not attempt to disrupt the service, gain access to an account that is not yours, or use the directory to send unsolicited marketing.

  • FindMyDentist is intended for users in England, and listings describe practices and regulation in England.
  • Browsing the directory does not create a contract between you and FindMyDentist, and does not create any relationship between you and a practice.
  • We may decline or withdraw access to any account that breaches these terms.

Accounts and practice responsibilities

One account is provided per practice, linked to an email address that is valid and regularly monitored. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential, and anything done from your account is treated as done by you.

You must tell us promptly at hello@findmydentist.uk if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation, so that we can secure it.

  • Give accurate registration details and keep your contact email up to date.
  • Do not share logins between practices or staff who have left.
  • Do not create accounts by automated means, or create listings purely to resell data or links.
  • Tell us if the practice changes hands, closes, or moves, so that the listing can be updated or removed.

Accuracy of practice information

The practice is responsible for the content of its listing and must keep it accurate and current. This matters most for the details patients rely on when deciding where to go: the address, contact details, opening hours, treatments offered, NHS availability and fees.

NHS availability is a statement of fact, not a marketing preference. If a practice is not accepting new NHS patients, or is only offering appointments through a waiting list, the listing must say so. Where a practice stops providing NHS care it must update the listing promptly.

Published fees must be indicative price ranges for treatments the practice genuinely offers, and must be reviewed when they change significantly. NHS charge bands are set by the health service, not by the practice, and should be described using the current NHS England bands.

  • Do not publish anything in the name of a practice without that practice’s agreement.
  • Qualifications, GDC registration numbers, titles and special interests must be accurate and current.
  • Photographs must be of the practice, its team and its work, and must be used with permission. Before-and-after images need the patient’s written consent.
  • A listing that has become materially out of date may be taken offline until the practice updates it.

Free and paid listings

Every practice gets a complete listing at no cost: photos, opening hours, team, treatments and prices, a location map, an enquiry form and basic statistics, published once we have reviewed it.

Paid tiers add visibility and tooling rather than access. They are billed monthly, with no minimum term, and can be cancelled at any time from the dashboard; the listing reverts to the free tier at the end of the paid period.

Paid placement never changes how results are ranked or filtered. Highlighting is always labelled as such, and a paid practice cannot appear above a better match without that label. Practices can also pay for extra locations, richer team pages and a verified badge, all of which are described on our pricing page.

Free

A complete, reviewed listing with photos, opening hours, team, treatments, indicative prices, an enquiry form and basic profile statistics.

Pro

Everything in the free tier, plus labelled highlighting in search results, featured treatments and prices, an online booking link, enquiry notifications and fuller statistics.

Premium

Everything in Pro, plus several locations for multi-site groups, an expanded team section, a verified badge once we have checked your details, and onboarding support.

Patient enquiries and clinical advice

When you send an enquiry through a listing, FindMyDentist passes it to that practice so the practice can reply. We are a directory and an introduction service: we are not a party to the relationship between you and a practice, we do not book appointments, we do not set or take fees, and we take no commission on treatment.

FindMyDentist does not provide clinical advice. Nothing on the site — a listing, a treatment description, a price range, a guide or a search result — is a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a substitute for an examination by a registered dental professional. If you have a dental emergency, contact a practice or NHS 111.

We do not verify clinical outcomes and we do not recommend one practice over another. You decide which practice to contact and which treatment to accept.

  • Enquiries must be genuine and must not contain unlawful, abusive or misleading content.
  • Practices should answer enquiries within a reasonable time and should not use enquiry details for marketing without consent.
  • Do not send confidential health information beyond what is needed to arrange care.

Prohibited content

Content published on FindMyDentist must comply with UK advertising rules and with the professional standards that apply to dental practice, including the guidance issued by the General Dental Council and by the Care Quality Commission.

  • Promises of results, misleading claims, or denigrating comparisons with another named practice.
  • Therapeutic claims that are not supported by evidence, or claims that a treatment is risk-free.
  • Before-and-after photographs without written patient consent, or any photograph of an identifiable patient used without permission.
  • Discriminatory, hateful, violent, sexually explicit or harassing content, or content that attacks a person’s dignity.
  • Patient health data, third-party contact details supplied without consent, or content that infringes someone else’s rights.
  • False statements about qualifications, registration, inspection outcomes, insurance or payment plans.
  • Advertising for products or services that have nothing to do with the practice’s dental activity.

Moderation and suspension

We may review a listing before or after publication, ask for evidence supporting a claim, and edit or remove content that breaches these terms. Where we edit a listing we tell the practice what we changed and why.

If a breach is serious or repeated, we may suspend the account, take the listing offline and restrict dashboard access. Except where there is a risk to patients or to the service, we contact you first and give you fifteen days to put your case.

Reports from patients are reviewed within seven working days. Reports about clinical care are redirected to the practice and, where appropriate, to the relevant regulator, because those are not matters we can investigate.

  • A suspended listing can be reinstated once the problem has been fixed.
  • We may remove a listing that we cannot verify if the practice does not respond to repeated requests.
  • You can close your account at any time, and we will remove the listing within thirty days of your request.

Limits of liability

FindMyDentist is provided as a directory and introduction service. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we provide it “as is”: we do not warrant that listings are complete or error-free, that a practice is accepting patients, or that a published fee will be honoured.

We are not responsible for the content a practice publishes, for the treatment a practice provides, or for any dealings between you and a practice. To the extent permitted by law, findmydentist.uk is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of goodwill or loss of data arising from your use of, or inability to use, FindMyDentist.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts, and nothing here affects your right to do so as a consumer.

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or in the law. The version published on this page is the one that applies, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. Continued use of FindMyDentist after a change means you accept the updated terms.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Questions about these terms go to hello@findmydentist.uk.
